Who we are

“People, not profit – We are Scottish Police Credit Union, a member owned co-operative which serves the financial needs of the Police Family in Scotland.

Established in 1989, by the then Strathclyde Police Federation Branch Board, we are here to provide affordable financial solutions for our members whether it is a safe and secure place to save monthly or to help finance their needs through a range of products and services.

Unlike other financial institutes, we have a flexible approach to dealing with your financial wellbeing and thrive on being an alternative and ethical organisation who puts our members first.

  • A community-focused financial group: Think of it as a kind of bank that’s owned and run by its members (the people who have accounts there).
  • Not-for-profit: Credit unions are all about serving their members, not making big profits for outside investors. This means they generally offer better rates on loans and savings accounts.
  • Shared connection: To join a credit union, you usually need to share something in common with other members, like where you live, where you work, or a group you belong to.
  • Lower fees and better interest rates: You’ll often find more favorable terms than at a traditional bank.
  • Focus on the people: Credit unions care about helping their members financially, offering things like budgeting help or loans during difficult situations.
  • Sense of community: You’re part of the decision-making process and your money stays within your community, not third-party shareholders.

To be eligible to join Scottish Police Credit Union, you must fall within our common bond. For more information or to check if you can join, click here.

Scottish Police Credit Union is governed by a democratically elected Board of Directors, all of whom are members and who do not receive payment for their services as directors. Our Board is made up of current and retired Police Officers and Staff, and experienced individuals to help make the Credit Union the success it is today.
