Who we are
“People, not profit – We are Scottish Police Credit Union, a member owned co-operative which serves the financial needs of the Police Family in Scotland.
Established in 1989, by the then Strathclyde Police Federation Branch Board, we are here to provide affordable financial solutions for our members whether it is a safe and secure place to save monthly or to help finance their needs through a range of products and services.
Unlike other financial institutes, we have a flexible approach to dealing with your financial wellbeing and thrive on being an alternative and ethical organisation who puts our members first.
A credit union is a financial co-operative owned and run by its members. It offers a range of financial services, including savings accounts, loans, and mortgages, exclusively to its members.
As not-for-profit organisations, credit unions prioritise the needs of their members over making a profit. This often leads to more competitive interest rates on loans and higher interest rates on savings compared to traditional banks.
To join a credit union, you usually need to live or work in a specific area or be part of a particular employer group. As a member, you have a say in how the credit union is run and can benefit from its financial services.
Credit unions play a vital role in providing financial services to people who may not be well-served by traditional banks. They can be a great option for people looking to save money, borrow at reasonable rates, or build their credit history.
Why you should consider joining Scottish Police Credit Union:
- Ethical and Member-Focused: As a not-for-profit organisation, we prioritise the financial well-being of our members. Each time you contact the Credit Union, you will be able to speak with one of our experienced team.
- Competitive Rates: We often offer lower interest rates on loans and higher dividend rates on savings compared to traditional banks. To find out more about dividends please click here.
- Personalised Service: We provide tailored financial products to support to our members.
- Financial Security: We offer you a safe place to build a healthy savings habit and borrow should you need it. Check out our savings accounts for you and your family here.
